Simon Rouby was born in 1980. He practiced painting and sculpture at a very young age. He studied drawing for two years at Ecole Emile Cohl and then animation at the École des Gobelins in Paris before leaving to study at Cal Arts in Los Angeles in the United States. These studies allowed him to make his first short films: Blindspot with the Gobelins in 2007 and the Omen with Calarts the same year. In 2010, he directed La Marche, another short film, produced by Naïa Productions. The March is selected in several animation festivals in France and abroad. In 2011, he launched with screenwriter Julien Lilti in the design of his first feature film, Adama, which was released in 2015. Simon Rouby is interested in hybrid animation techniques, mixing sculpture with modeling in images of synthesis.
